On July 7th, a chemical leak in Hahnville, Louisiana, by Dow Chemical led to thousands of residents of the Southeast Louisiana area facing a myriad of ailments that ranged in severity but ultimately led to injury. In response to this failure on the part of Dow Chemical to protect the residents of Louisiana from its chemicals and their harmful vapors, the Berniard Law Firm has filed a Class Action against the company.

This class action, works to represent any resident or visitor of Southeast Louisiana that suffered physical ailments, such as headache, dizziness, nausea, burning of the eyes or others, as a result of Dow's chemical leak. The class action aims to make Dow Chemical take responsibility for the leakage of the highly dangerous ethyl acrylate into the air from the company's St. Charles Parish plant. Despite claims that there is no long-term harm from the leakage, the plant's movements to close parts of River Road and quickly call in cleanup crews to cart off the mess shows that the dangerous chemical released has caused a great deal of risk to the region.

According to the governmental body dedicated to work-related chemicals and hazards, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, ethyl acrylate is a strong, dangerous irritant that, when come into contact with, causes harm to the eyes, skin, mucous membranes, respiratory system and gastrointestinal tract.

Because there is no clear indication of just how much ethyl acrylate was leaked by Dow and just how much harm has been caused to Hahnville, its surrounding areas, and the Greater New Orleans area on the morning of July 7th, this class action is necessary in order to represent those injured and force Dow Chemical to take accountability. Any individual who, on the day of July 7th, suffered adverse physical reactions or detrimental damage to their home, property, business, etc., due to the lingering, noxious chemical leak that shifted through the greater Southeastern Louisiana region may become a member of the class.

If you feel you have been harmed by this leak and would like to become a member of the class action, take a moment to download and fill out one of the documents below.
